The Studio’s Collection is crafted from Ilomba plywood, selected for its warm natural tone. As light reflects through the wooden planes, the material gently tints the illumination, shaping the atmosphere of the space.

An ongoing collection

The Concept

SPIN began with a simple question: how can a lamp diffuse light without relying on a traditional shade?

Instead of fabric, the design uses a sequence of thin wooden planes that redirect light through controlled reflection. The function remains the same — protecting the eye from direct glare — but the mechanism is structural rather than material.

Each plane rotates around a central axis, creating rhythm and depth while guiding the movement of light.

The silhouette recalls the familiar outline of a traditional table lamp, establishing a quiet dialogue between typology and reinterpretation.

The same planes continue downward to form a vase-like base where light can pass through the structure, transforming what would normally be solid into a permeable geometry.

The result is a wooden lamp that diffuses light through structure rather than enclosure.

Solidity and Transparency — Recognized Design

The composition reverses the logic of a conventional lamp.

The upper structure is visually dense, while the base remains open and permeable. Instead of a translucent shade above a solid base, SPIN inverts this relationship.

This spatial inversion creates a subtle tension between solidity and transparency, allowing light to circulate through the structure while revealing the layered geometry of the wood.

SPIN received an Honorable Mention at the LIT Design Awards 2025.

Material

The structure relies on thin sheets of wood, making plywood the most appropriate material.

Its cross-laminated layers provide stability and resistance at a thickness that solid wood could not sustain. This allows the planes to remain slender while maintaining structural integrity.

Plywood also uses timber efficiently, transforming natural veneers into a material that is both stable and expressive.

The Collection

SPIN is part of the studio’s ongoing collection.

Alongside the standard version, occasional small releases explore variations in color or surface treatment. The structural logic of the lamp allows these variations while preserving the identity of the design.

Each lamp is individually assembled in my Barcelona studio, numbered and digitally authenticated.
