The Concept

ICOS began with a simple architectural question:
how can a structure hold light without enclosing it?

The answer emerged through the geometry of the icosahedron, a polyhedron composed of twenty identical triangular faces.

Instead of surfaces, the lamp reveals only its edges — forming a precise wooden framework that defines space while allowing light to remain fully visible.

At the center of the structure sits a single decorative bulb, suspended in perfect balance between geometry and illumination.

The result is a lighting object where structure and light coexist with clarity.

Geometry and Light

ICOS operates through the tension between simplicity and complexity.

At first glance the object appears as a minimal wooden frame.
Yet its triangular geometry creates a layered spatial reading, where multiple pyramidal volumes overlap and shift depending on the viewpoint.

The light source remains exposed, transforming the bulb itself into part of the composition.

This architectural approach to decorative lighting earned ICOS an Honorable Mention at the LIT Design Awards 2025.

Material and Making

Each ICOS lamp is designed and handcrafted by me in my Barcelona studio.

The structure is built from carefully machined solid wood elements, cut with precision and assembled by hand to maintain the exact angles required by the geometry.

The wood remains in its natural state, finished with oil to preserve its tone and texture.

Every piece is individually crafted, numbered, and digitally authenticated.

Collections

ICOS is produced in limited collections, each exploring the character of a specific wood species.

Because wood varies in grain, color, and density, every edition develops its own material presence.

This approach allows the same geometry to reveal different expressions through material.

Shipping

Each lamp is handcrafted in Barcelona and shipped worldwide.

All pieces are carefully packed and delivered through trusted logistics partners with signature confirmation.
